Discover hidden cellar worlds under Vienna
You know Vienna from above: magnificent facades, narrow streets and historic squares. But just a few meters below, a completely different world begins.
On this guided tour, you will descend into private historic cellars that are normally not freely accessible. You can expect dark vaults, old shelters, multi-storey basements and areas that have preserved their original Lost Place character to this day.
Depending on the chosen variant, you will explore two or three different locations. Some rooms have been restored, others seem almost forgotten. It is precisely this mixture that makes the tour so exciting.
The forgotten Vienna under the city
Your guide will tell you how the cellars were made, what they were used for and what stories are hidden behind their walls.
Especially in the 19th century, a second living world developed below the wealthy city center. Cellars served as camps, workspaces, places of refuge and sometimes also as retreats for people living on the margins of society.
So you discover a Vienna that has little in common with the well-known picture of stately buildings and sights.
Two tour variants through historic cellars
In the longer version, you will visit three private cellars with very different characters – from restored vaults to dark, original Lost Places.
The more compact tour will take you through two historic cellars, including rooms that were later used as air raid shelters.
Instead of just hearing about Vienna’s past, you stand in the middle of the rooms where this story took place.

No. Due to the prevailing circumstances, the tour is only suitable for people without restrictions.
On the 2 hour tour you go about. 15 minutes above ground from one cellar to the next, in the 1.5h variant about 10 minutes. The rest of the time you are in the cellars. Since the corridors were closed after the Second World War, it is not possible to run the entire time underground in the 1st district.
During our tour we illuminate not the Vienna CanalOr classic bunkers. Instead, we’ll take you through private, multi-storey basements in the Inner City steeped in centuries of history. These cellars are filled to the top with fascinating stories. Some served as hiding places for people during World War II air strikes, and there are many other purposes we will explore together during the tour.
